It’s Possible to Regain Control

Dr. Gabor Mate, an expert in addiction and trauma, says that the opposite of addiction is community. We live in a world that often feels fractured and isolating, and that is why we wanted to create a space for individuals to come together to share in healing in a space that does not require abstinence for participation.

Welcome to our Harm Reduction Addiction Support Group, where we provide a compassionate and inclusive space for individuals seeking support in their journey towards healing and recovery. This group is designed for those experiencing a range of symptoms associated with addiction, including but not limited to substance misuse, compulsive behaviors, interpersonal challenges, and distress tolerance challenges.

Healing is Possible!

Harm reduction strategies recognize the complex interactions between addiction and various mental health symptoms, including anxiety, depression, anger, relationship/family issues, trauma, etc. Rather than solely emphasizing immediate abstinence, the focus is on minimizing harm associated with substance use while addressing underlying factors contributing to individuals' struggles. Group sessions provide a supportive environment where participants can share experiences, gain insights, and receive encouragement from peers facing similar challenges. Through discussions, psychoeducation, and skill-building exercises, group members learn effective coping strategies and develop resilience in managing their symptoms. Harm reduction interventions such as safety planning, overdose prevention education, and relapse prevention techniques are integrated into group sessions to promote safety and well-being. By embracing harm reduction principles within the context of group therapy, participants receive compassionate support tailored to their unique needs, fostering a collaborative approach to holistic recovery.

Our approach integrates various treatment modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, mindfulness meditation, Attachment Theory, and Trauma-Informed Care, to address the complex needs of our participants. By drawing upon the principles of harm reduction, we aim to meet individuals where they are, recognizing that each person's path to recovery is unique. Our group culture emphasizes acceptance, non-judgment, and mutual support, creating a safe environment for exploration, growth, and healing. Together, we work towards building resilience, fostering self-awareness, and promoting holistic well-being as we navigate the challenges and triumphs of recovery.
